Import content

Pressonline’s CMS allows you to upload text content in bulk, using an excel file with a predefined structure.

To use this feature:

  1. The contents should be recorded in a pre-defined excel spreadsheet. These predefined excel sheets can be accessed by clicking on the "IMPORT" button in the CONTENTS menu of the administration interface.
  2. At the bottom of the window that pops up after clicking on the "IMPORT" button at the top of the administration interface, the template excel templates corresponding to the content types of the given repository are listed.
  3. You need to select the template excel that corresponds to the content type, this will be downloaded to your computer by clicking on the name.
  4. Once you have selected the downloaded items, it is a good idea to save excel first to a dedicated folder on your computer and then open it to start filling in the spreadsheet.
  5. The first line of the excel file contains the header data used to identify each content unit. These will help you decide which information to place in each column for uploading.
  6. In the excel file, there are mandatory elements (the title, the content type, and the repository) - these are marked separately in the table. Without filling them in, uploading is not possible.
  7. The title field specifies what the title of the uploaded content will be.
  8. The content type, which tells the system what custom fields the uploaded content will contain. The unique identifier of the content type should be entered in this column as a number. The sample excel sheets are prepared separately for each content type, the required identifier is fixed in the file, so you simply select the number from the drop down menu in the cell.
  9. The third is the repository, where the content will be uploaded. In this column, the unique identifier of the repository is entered as a number. The sample excel sheets are prepared separately for each page, the required identifier is fixed in the file, so you simply select the number from the drop-down menu in the cell.
  10. In the other columns of excel, you can enter or select the content in free words or from a list. If no content is entered in a field, this does not affect the import of the content.
  11. After filling and saving the excel file, click on the IMPORT button again in the administration interface. In the window that pops up, you can click on the "UPLOAD" button to upload the excel file and then click on the "SAVE" button to save the content. The system will indicate successful upload at the end of the process.

The contents recorded in the excel file will be automatically included in the summary table available in the CONTENTS menu of the administration interface after saving. The content can then be edited from this list by pressing the PEN icon in front of the content title (TITLE) on the EDIT CONTENT page. From here, you can upload other files related to the text content and make custom settings for the uploaded content.

Bulk uploaded content will always be given a "draft" status, and must be set to "final" status to be published. This is a safety measure to prevent content from being published on the public interface that has not been checked once before publication in the system's administration interface.
